Jacqueline V. 'Jackie' Longhini

WAUSAU, Wis. - Jacqueline V. "Jackie" Longhini, 73, of Ironwood, Mich., died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hopsital in Wausau.

The former Jacqueline Zegoski was born July 17, 1943, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Jack and Eleanor (Chinn) Zegoski, attended Ironwood schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1961. She then was employed at the A&P Store in downtown Ironwood for several years.

She was married to William H."Bill" Longhini on May 27, 1967, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Monsignor Joseph Dunleavy. Bill preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1994.

Jackie worked as a teacher's aide and in the cafeteria for the Ironwood School District for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends, and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She always had a smile on her face and was willing to help anyone she could. She will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving are two sons, Chad, Bessemer, Mich., and Michael (Lori), Madison; four grandchildren, Samantha Longhini (Derek Downey), Chicago, and Dalton, Reese and Riley Longhini, all of Madison; a brother, James (Jean) Zegoski, Polk City, Iowa; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Richard Longhini, Manitowoc, Marguerite (Wilfred) Legault, Brookfield, and Carol DaPra, Racine; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was predeceased by her father- and mother-in-law, William and Helia Longhini; sister-in-law, Rita Longhini; and brother-in-law, Arthur DaPra.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with Rev. Robb Jurkovich officiating.

Luncheon will follow at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, in the spring.
