Commissioners to consider sale of land for group home

IRONWOOD — The Ironwood City Commission on Monday will act on selling a piece of property to Gogebic County Community Mental Health for construction of a group home.

The facility would be similar to one operated on Greenbush Street by GCCMH, according to city officials.

GCCMH chose property owned by the city on Ayer Street, across from the baseball diamond.

“The parcel would be carved out of a larger parcel owned by the city. The proposed parcel was appraised at $3,500,” Ironwood Community Development Director Tom Bergman wrote in a summary...
