Verna Ann Halron

ONTONAGON, Mich. — Verna Ann Halron, age 83, passed away peacefully at home with her family on March 3, 2017. Verna was born on June 30, 1933, in Ontonagon, Mich. to Ted and Lucille Sommer. She married James “Mickey” Halron on March 31, 1951, and they were only a few weeks away from their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary.

Verna spent eight years working at the law firm of Walsh and Munro and thirty years working for the First National Bank of Ontonagon. She truly enjoyed her work and the people she encountered every day but most of all she loved her family. Through her battle with cancer, she never complained and was always more concerned with those around her. Her caring and kindness showed in everything she did.

Verna is survived by her husband, “Mickey” Halron of Ontonagon; her daughter, Brenda Borger and son-in-law Bob Borger of Woodruff, Wis .; her son Michael Halron of Oshkosh, Wis .; her granddaughter, Jamie McNulty and her husband, Bryan McNulty, of Wadsworth, Ill .; and their three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Aleigha and Brendan McNulty, Jim “Chugger” Fyfe of Ontonagon and Doug Fyfe and his wife, Mary, of Oak Harbor, Wash .; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Omar and Fay Halron; her sister, Jill Dragoo and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Per Verna’s wishes, there will be no funeral. When she is remembered by her family and friends, it will be with a smile on their faces.
