Joseph Eugene Doleshal

WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Joseph Eugene Doleshal, 66, a long-time resident of Watersmeet, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2017, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on April 19, 1950, in Laona, Wis., a son of Joseph George and Peggy Jane (Otto) Doleshal. He attended Antigo High School in Wisconsin and graduated in 1969.

Joe spent many years in the logging industry. Later he owned and operated his own excavating and caretaking business.

Joe took great pride living on Beatons Lake and treasured the countless friendships he made over the years with his neighbors. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and absolutely loved spending time with them.

Joe is survived by a son, Joseph William (Victoria), Wakefield; a daughter, Christine (Joseph) LaPlant, Ewen; six grandchildren, Abigail, Jolie and Joseph Doleshal, Alexandria Albaugh and Jasmine and Justin LaPlant; a great-granddaughter, Olivia; five brothers, Ted (Kathy) Costarello, Robert (Patricia) Doleshal, Frank Doleshal (Maureen Baude), Mark (Michele) Doleshal and John Doleshal; two sisters, Lorraine (David) Bernhardt and Karen (Milton) Yablonski; an uncle, Eugene “Buzzy” Otto; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Jeff Doleshal; and a sister, Melissa Smith.

In accordance with Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Luncheon will follow at the church fellowship hall.
