Judy passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by her family.

Judith Mae Slomkowski was born on Feb. 22, 1941, in Bessemer, Mich., a daughter of Felix and Elsie (Tampio) Slomkowski. Judy was united in marriage to Dennis J. Napel on Aug. 24, 1961, in Ironwood, Mich. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2016, in Lake Placid, Fla. They shared over 55 years of marriage together.

Judy worked for many years for Jo-Ann Fabric Store in Davenport, retiring in 2002. It was more than work for Judy; she had a passion for sewing and quilting. Most paychecks went right to the shop as she would buy materials for her next project.

She enjoyed the "occasional" trips to the slot machines, and wintering since 2002 in Florida with her husband, Dennis. Judy also enjoyed playing Mahjong.

Judy is survived by her children and their spouses, Bert (Steve) Weis, Davenport, and Dennis P. (Violeta) Napel and Renee (Mitch) Stukey, all of Naples, Fla .; grandchildren, Ashley (Cory) Simpson, Kevin Weis and Alex (Molly) Stukey; a great-grandson, August John Simpson; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Sadie.

In addition to her husband, Judy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynne; her parents; three brothers, and a sister. May they rest in peace.

Judy's family would like to thank Dr. Wong, the nurses and staff and Select Specialty Hospital and the nurses and staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for all the compassionate care they shared. Online remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Judy's obituary at hmdfuneralhome.com.
