Rosalie A. King

IRON RIVER, Mich. - Rosalie A. King, 81, of Iron River, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born March 1, 1936, in Hurley, Wis., the daughter of the late John and Velia Grandelis. She graduated from the Hurley High School.

Rosalie married Kenton King on Aug. 27, 1967, in Wakefield, and the couple celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in 2008. Kenton preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2008.

Rosalie was both passionate and compassionate. She was a fierce advocate for what she believed in, which included her family, friends and the many organizations she belonged to. She was always there when someone needed help and was always willing to give of herself. She was the first to offer to bake or cook when needed. She offered consolation with her beautiful singing voice and brought joy and peace to the many grieving families that she served over the years, while in the choir.

She loved being involved in politics and brought about many positive changes for Iron County throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and winemaking. She especially loved spending time with and helping her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many, many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her and those whom she served throughout Iron County and beyond.

Rosalie is survived by her close friend, Maurice Beauchamp; two sons, Tom (Debra) King, of Iron River, and David (Ancella) King, of Caspian; two daughters, Patricia (Curtis) Soderbloom, of Iron River, and Rebecca King, of Okemos; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Grandelis; sister, Nancy Christensen, and grandson, Christopher King.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The ladies of St. Ann's Society will form an honor guard at the service.
