Carol F. Allan

MANITOWOC, Wis. - Carol F. Allan, 87, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2017, at St. Mary's Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc.

Carol was born on May 8, 1930, in Crystal Falls, Mich., daughter of the late Harry and Jean (Johnson) Freberg. She was a graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich., with the class of 1948. She later attended Gogebic Junior College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a degree in education in 1952.

On July 18, 1953, she married Dr. Lloyd Allan in Ironwood. Carol was a kindergarten teacher at Garfield Elementary in Manitowoc and she was also a substitute kindergarten teacher for the Kewaunee School District. She also was the office manager for her husband's optometric office for many years. She taught Sunday school at the Community Congregational Church, founded the Easter Breakfast at the church and also sang in the choir. Carol was a member of the Women's Club in Kewaunee, the Kewaunee Bridge Club and also liked to downhill and cross country ski. She played the piano and enjoyed playing golf, even getting a hole-in-one while she lived in Florida.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Allan, Manitowoc; three children, Roger Allan, Rockledge, Fla., Kurt Allan and special friend, Sharon Taylor, Berlin, Wis., and Susan (Peter) Laing, Grafton; two grandchildren, Kelsey Neuhauser and special friend, Mitchell Lovejoy, Eagan, Minn., and Jackson Neuhauser, Grafton; two sisters-in-law, Joan (Joe) Stecker, North Carolina, and Jean (Allan) Logan, DeForest; one brother-in-law, Richard Bush, Green Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lindsay Neuhauser; and one sister, Joyce Bush.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, at Community Congregational Church in Kewaunee. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. John Wallace.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 3, at Community Congregational Church, Kewaunee, from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
