Bessemer — An Ironwood man was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Gogebic County Circuit Court.

Kevin Russell Schuelke, 44, was sentenced to between 29 months and 60 months in prison for the felony charge of arson-preparation to burn. Schuelke was also sentenced to 93 days in jail for domestic violence and between 16 and 24 months for resisting and obstructing officers, however, Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs said the sentences all run concurrently — meaning Schuelke will serve the sentences at the same time, finishing the other two before completing the arson sentence.

Schuelke pleaded guilty to the three charges in March — following a determination by state experts he was both competent and criminally responsible for his actions — as part of a plea deal that had a habitual offender-fourth offense notice dropped at sentencing.

The charges stemmed from an Aug. 16, 2016, incident when Schuelke started a fire in the Ash Street house listed as his residence following a domestic dispute.

He received credit for 301 days for time served in jail.
