HURLEY, Wis. - Dorothy P. Leppi, 98, a lifelong Hurley resident, died peacefully early Saturday morning, July 15, 2017, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, with her loving family by her side.

The former Dorothy Gehrke was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Hurley, daughter of the late Reinhard and Rose (Consie) Gehrke, attended Hurley schools and graduated from Hurley High School in 1937.

She married Arthur U. Leppi on Oct. 24, 1940, in Ironwood, Mich. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2001.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hurley and its Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Auxiliary to Hurley American Legion Post 58. An avid bowler in her younger years, she bowled in women's leagues at the Amercian Legion lanes in Hurley for many years.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur R. "Mickey" (Mary E.), Minocqua, and James B. (Janis), Tomahawk; four grandchildren, Bryan, Jade, Zan and Starea; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ethan, Max and Sebastian; two brothers, Raymond Gehrke, Milwaukee, and Carl (Jean ) Gehrke, Coolidge, Ariz .; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Gehrke.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hurley. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating.

Committal and interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 309 Second Ave., Hurley, WI 54534.
