Ontonagon County Fair kicks off July 29

GREENLAND — The Ontonagon County Fair will be held this coming week in Greenland.

While preliminary events are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, the fair will officially be open Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30.

The fair board has scheduled events for young and old, from livestock exhibits to a mud challenge. A fair official said the county fair is for all ages, from toddlers to homemakers, cooks and athletes.

Among the events are an antique engine and tractor show, many other exhibits and demonstrations, toddler games and kiddie train rides.

The schedule:

Thursday, July 27

9 a.m.-noon, Exhibit registration.

4 p.m.-7 p.m., Exhibit registration, followed by judging.

7 p.m., Cheesecake contest judging.

Friday, July 28

10 a.m., Exhibit judging.

Noon-5 p.m., Animal entries brought in.

6 p.m., Bakery auction.

7 p.m., Glitz and Glam Princess pageant.

FAIR BEGINS

Saturday, July 29

7-11 a.m., Michigan/Wisconsin Antique Power Association and Lumberjack Breakfast.

8 a.m., Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Outdoor Adventure Run/Walk registration.

9 a.m., Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Outdoor Adventure Run/Walk and Exhibit Building opens.

10 a.m., Livestock judging, ACA Jumps Activity Inflatables.

Noon, Concessions in Chalet.

Noon to 3 p.m., Adventure Mountain Lions Club Mud Challenge registration.

1 p.m., Rabbit and poultry demonstration.

2 p.m., Livestock demonstration.

4 p.m., Adventure Mountain Lions Club Mud Challenge.

6 p.m., Youth mock rodeo.

Sunday, July 30

8-10:30 a.m., Bakery and beverages.

9 a.m., Horse games registration.

10 a.m., Horse games and Exhibit Building opens.

11 a.m., Concessions in Chalet.

Noon to 2 p.m., 4-H petting zoo.

4-6 p.m., Release of exhibits.
