Norman Walter Sormula

EWEN, Mich. — Norman Walter Sormula, 79, of Ewen, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at his home with Mabel by his side.

He was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Ewen, to Walter and Mamie (Anderson) Sormula. Norman attended Ewen High School and later worked in construction for 30 years in Kenosha, Wis. After years apart, he was reunited with his partner in life, Mabel Niemi. Norman enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Mesa, Ariz. He also liked hiking, spending time outdoors and was a Packer and Tigers fan.

Norman is survived by his dear friend of 16 years, Mabel Niemi of Ewen; a daughter, Sue (Dan) Rambatt of Sharon, Wis .; two step-daughters, Jean (Tom) Stukel of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Connie (Jim) Peterson of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Kyle, Trevor and Kaden; three stepgrandchildren, Chris (Susan) Hinds, and Tyler and Samantha Peterson; a sister, Verna Mae (Andy) Huttula; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Sam.

Visitation will take place Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Ewen. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following worship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Ewen or Sonco Ambulance Service.

The Cane Funeral Home of Bruce Crossing is assisting the family with arrangements.
