Darlene M. (Aspinwall) Hill

BESSEMER, Mich. - Darlene M. (Aspinwall) Hill, 64, of 410 E. Longyear St., in Bessemer, passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, Nov. 16, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous fight with lung cancer.

Darlene was born on April 18, 1953, in Bessemer Township, a daughter of James and Della Marion (LaChapelle) Aspinwall. She attended A.D. Johnston High School.

On Oct. 17, 1970, Darlene was united in marriage to Regan C. Hill. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

She worked at the Super Valu, Big Powderhorn Mountain and Kodiak.

Darlene was a very loving and caring wife, mom and grandma, "Nana."

She took great pride in cooking for her family. Darlene spent many happy hours at the casino in Watersmeet and enjoyed watching her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. She absolutely adored her large collection of owls.

Darlene is survived by her beloved husband, Regan; three children, Kristi (Ray) Massey, Wakefield, Regan Jr. (Cheri), Oshkosh, Wis., and Melanie (Scott) Brady, Ironwood; eight grandchildren, Jordan, L.J., Shaye, Jami, Jackson, Kelsea, Jacob and Austin; two great-grandchildren, Abel and Thomas; and her loving pets, Sambo, Tank "B.B." and Kit Kat.

Also surviving are five brothers, David, Hurley, Wis., John (Connie), Lennon, James, Ramsay, Jeff, Hurley, and Jerry (Sherry), of New Jersey; three sisters, Jean, Wakefield, and Joyce (Chuck) and DeeDee (Punky), both of Ironwood; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Brian (Jeanette) Hill, of Colorado, Reino Hill, of Wisconsin, Fudd (Diane) Hill, of Florida, Gary (Sue) Hill, Negaunee, Jacci (Gary) Shauger, of Wisconsin, Daniel Shauger, of Florida, Jesse Shauger, Wakefield, Janis Shauger, of Wisconsin, and Jean (Mark) Luczak, Bessemer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Donald "Sparky;" her father-in-law, Reino Hill Sr .; her mother-in-law and her husband, Elaine and Daniel Shauger; a nephew, Dale Williams; and her sister-in-law, Judy Hill.

A funeral liturgy will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m., preceded by memorial visitation at 9 a.m., at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 210 E. Iron St., in Bessemer, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong officiating.

Following the service, luncheon will be served at St. Sebastian School.
