First Friday features carols

IRONWOOD — Plans for the next First Friday in downtown Ironwood include Christmas caroling on every block and store discounts for people who wear ugly sweaters.

The Dec. 1 First Friday event will precede the Jack Frost Festival parade on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The Ironwood Area Chamber of Commerce notes many participating businesses will again remain open late for First Friday.

A Christmas market is planned in the concourse of the Historic Ironwood Theatre.

The events are set for from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Shoppers will have the opportunity to view all of the Jack Frost Festival window displays at local businesses and see the beautiful downtown light pole wreaths.

The carolers will sing from 6 to 7 p.m.

The First Friday events are carried over from the summer months, when music was featured in the downtown Art Park. The promotional effort was extended into December to coincide with the popular parade on the following day. It’s the first year that the parade is being held on a Saturday.
