New emergency alert system available for download in Gogebic County

Gogebic County public safety officials announced Rave Alert is available to all residents of the county.

Rave Alert is a free service allowing individuals to sign up for notifications sent from local and state authorities, keeping residents and travelers informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic and other possible emergencies.

James Loeper, county emergency management director, said, “Rave Alert enables authorities to notify the community in real time. This service allows for critical communication with the public and provides individuals with the information needed to stay safe or take precautions during hazardous or emergency situations.”

Rave Alert is available at smart911.com/smart911/registration/registrationLanding.action.

People downloading the program can elect to have notifications pushed to their mobile devices through email, text or voice message.

Loeper said, “Citizens will receive notifications that will improve safety in our county and help inform residents of potentially lifesaving actions they may need to take in an emergency. We encourage all members of our community and their families sign up for Rave Alert in order to be prepared should an emergency occur.”
