Ironwood - For 27 years running, the Aspirus Ironwood Auxiliary has held a Tree of Love lighting ceremony on the hospital grounds to remember loved ones. The ceremony kicked off with a dedication by Paula Chermside, chief executive officer, followed by the tree lighting. The Tree of Love is clothed in dazzling white lights and the Celebration Tree next to it is bathed in color. According to Dave Sim, Aspirus public affairs, the Tree of Love this year has 742 lights, which is around the usual number of lights.

The hospital included its seventh annual lighting of the Celebration Tree at the same time Tuesday evening, which is celebrating the good news of the past year, from anniversaries to new births to just plain old good health.

Sims said the trees will remain lit outside the hospital throughout the winter, while the names of loved are posted in the hospitals lobby where it is not so cold.

The auxiliary purchases many necessary items that aid in the care of patients and uses the Tree of Love fundraiser to support the purchases.
