James Michael Griffin

WAUSAU Wis. - James Michael Griffin, age 70, died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Dec. 5, 2017. He was born Nov. 3, 1947 in Ballinger, Texas, the son of the late James and Mary (Hall) Griffin.

He lived in various places, but called San Angelo, Texas and Ironwood, Mich, his home. James worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 28 years until his retirement in 2005. He also worked as a security guard. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he was stationed on the USS Mahon. He was a dedicated husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; daughters, Linda and Crystal; son, Bill; his brothers, Tom and Bill; and 4 grandchildren (two of which reside in Texas); and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood. Rev. Jean Rencontre will officiate. James' family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Burial will be in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Ontonagon.
