Hurley - Van Hill, co-coach of the Gogebic Range Robotics team, with team mentor Ron Peterson and four members of the team visited ModTruss in Fond du Lac, Wis., on Saturday.

The company is owned by Ironwood native and Luther L. Wright graduate Patrick Santini. Hill said Santini is, "a real down to earth guy. We hung out at his headquarters all day."

Hill said ModTruss is going to partner with the GRR and sponsor the team's pit stall. The students were able to design their pit on ModTruss computers during the visit. ModTruss will build the design the students developed and ship it to the team.

Hill said ModTruss just shipped a bunch of stuff to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl.

The GRR team is leveraging another local contact, which facilitated the team being able to use high-speed equipment while gaining access to materials they did not have last year.
