Snow advisory issued for today

Snowmobilers ride along a trail in the Ironwood Industrial Park Friday afternoon. Continued cold weather and snow in the forecast will make for more good sledding ahead.

A winter weather advisory was in effect for five northern Wisconsin counties until 9 p.m. today, including Iron County.

The National Weather Service said 3 to 6 inches of snow might create slippery driving conditions.

Gogebic County was also included in the snow watch, although the snow might be slightly less.

Bayfield, Ashland, Sawyer and Price counties were also in the weather advisory area, with the cities of Washburn, Bayfield, Ashland, Hurley, Hayward and Phillips likely to be affected.

Drivers were cautioned to be prepared for reduced visibilities at times during the day.
