Margaret H. "Marge" Ahola

WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Margaret H. "Marge" Ahola, 88, a long-time resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2018.

Marge was born on June 29, 1929, in Wakefield, a daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Sero) Nicholson. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1947.

On Aug. 7, 1947, Marge married George S. Autere. They were proud parents to daughter, Georgana. Marge worked at Azco Inc. in Appleton, Wis., and Equitable Insurance in Neenah, Wis. George passed away in an untimely death on Nov. 19, 1954.

Marge was united in marriage to Norman L. Ahola on Dec. 3, 1955, by the Rev. S.V. Autere at the home of Hannah Ahola. They celebrated more than 62 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters, Debbie, Betty and Marja.

Marge was a dental assistant for Dr. Victor L. Bigford and Dr. Robert W. Aukee for 15 years, and she retired in 1983.

Marge and Norm made their home on beautiful Lake Gogebic and then built their home in Wakefield.

She was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084.

Marge is survived by her loving husband, Norm; four daughters, Georgana Lake (Phil) and Deborah Ahola (Rick), both of Wakefield, Betty (Alan) Huschka, Dresser, Wis., and Marja (Terry) Orlich, Marquette; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Charles "Charlie" Picoldi, Wakefield; her sister-in-law, Astra (Autere) and husband, Gene Olson; many nieces and nephews; and several dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; an infant daughter, Nanette Kathryn, on Sept. 4, 1961; four sisters, Eleanor May, in infancy, Norma Collette, Geraldine "Jeri" Picoldi and Barbara Vas Oss; and her son-in-law, Ron Lake.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, where a ladies auxiliary program will follow under the auspices of the Wakefield Auxiliary to VFW Post 9084.

A memorial service will take place at the church at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

A committal service and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.

Expressions of affection in a charitable contribution in Marge's memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., Wakefield, MI 49968.
