John C. Cirolini

IRONWOOD, Mich. - John C. Cirolini, age 89, of Ironwood, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, in Ironwood. He was born April 4, 1928, in Ironwood, son of the late Rudolph and Lucia (Pedergnana) Cirolini.

John attended Ironwood schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a hospital guard in the Pacific, and he received the World War II Victory medal. He worked in the Peterson mine, as a lineman for the telephone company, for the Forest Service, for Schult Mobile Homes, and at Big Powderhorn Mountain.

John was an accomplished musician who played accordion and guitar. He was proud of his Tyrolean heritage, spending many summers in northern Italy with his mother, sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was also proud of his extensive flower gardens.

John was a member of our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

John is survived by one sister, Caroline Rigoni, of Bessemer; five nephews, Gary (Stephanie) Lucas, of Somerset, Wis., James (Rene) Lucas, of Chanhassen, Minn., Gerald Rigoni, of Chicago, Rudy (Tita) Rigoni, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Francis Rigoni, of Bessemer; four nieces, Bernadine (Philip) Von Busch, of Chicago, Carol (Jurgen) Feichtinger, of Chicago, Marlene (Scott) Paulsen, of New Brighton, Minn., and Marsha Lucas, of Marquette; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Lucas, in 2001, and one nephew, David Lucas, in 2015.

The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. Rev. Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the St. Joseph Family Room of the church. Military rites will be conducted by the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard. Spring inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
