Bessemer man arraigned on drug charges

BESSEMER — Scott David Salmi, 43, of Bessemer, was arrested during execution of a search warrant at the Black River Valley Pub on Thursday, was arraigned on Friday in Gogebic County Circuit Court.

Salmi is charged with two felonies, conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, a maximum 20-year, $10,000 charge, and possession with the intent to deliver meth, with a maximum 25-year, $25,000 fine.

Salmi is scheduled for a March 29 probable cause hearing and a preliminary examination is set for April 10.

Salmi’s bond is set at $200,000, with 10 percent required for release.

On Thursday around 2:15 p.m., the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics team executed a search warrant at the pub.

GIANT received information regarding a suspicious package addressed to the Black River Valley Pub that was found to contain meth.

As the investigation continued, another suspicious package was located, again containing meth.

GIANT officers spoke to Gogebic County Prosecutor Nicholas Jacobs and it was decided a search warrant would be executed. Officers seized money and about 2 ounces of crystal meth with a street value of $10,000.
