Mullard wins Hurley mayor race by 1 vote

HURLEY - If there was ever a question whether an individual's vote mattered, Hurley's mayoral race Tuesday was a powerful argument in favor of the power of voting as Paul Mullard defeated incumbent Joe Pinardi by a single vote.

Mullard received 185 votes to Pinardi's 184. Mullard had served as mayor and on the city council in the past. Pinardi had been mayor for 14 years.

In the city council election, all six incumbents won re-election. Seven candidates ran for the six seats, with all but the lowest vote-getter winning a seat. Joanne Bruneau got the most votes with 287 votes, Steven Lombardo received 285 votes, Jay Aijala received 266 votes, Robert Lanctoe received 234 votes, Stephanie Innes-Smith received 215 votes and Jamey Francis received 213 votes. Terrence Seibel, a former city council member, failed to earn a spot with 194 votes.
