Isabelle J. 'Isa' Graikoski

WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Isabelle J. "Isa" Graikoski, 90, a long-time resident of Wakefield, passed away Thursday morning, April 26, 2018.

Isabelle was born on July 6, 1927, in Wakefield, a daughter of George and Bessie (Szczepecka) Graikoski. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1945.

Isa worked at Mic-Adeles Clothing in Wakefield for a short time. Then, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for Allen-Bradley. After returning to Wakefield, she worked as a clerk for William Walters Grocery Store and Ziggy's Food Shop. Isa concluded her working career as a deputy clerk at the Gogebic County Treasurer's Office in Bessemer. She retired after 23 years of service in May 1991.

Isa was a devout Catholic. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield and a supporting member of the Women's Guild. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of Isabella-Our Lady of Guadalupe Circle 746, Wakefield Women's Club and the Wakefield Senior Citizen Center.

Isa was the happiest helping others and lovingly cared for her brother, Francis for many years. She volunteered at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, was the treasurer for the city of Wakefield Fourth of July Committee, and spent countless hours at her church in various positions, including counting weekend collections and bingo proceeds.   

She absolutely adored her large collection of dolls.

Isa is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; many cousins, including Michael Yon; and very special friends, Sandy Morrison, Alisha Hill, JoAnn Harvey and Nancy Forchette.

She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Stanley, Domenic and Evelyn, John and Margaret and Francis Graikoski; and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ted Wielgosz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 11, at noon, preceded by visitation at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant. Also, in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard.

Lunch will be served in the church hall following the Mass.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.

Expressions of affection in a charitable contribution in Isabelle's memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass intentions.
