Joseph R. Massi

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Joseph R. Massi, 58, of Ironwood, passed away on April 29, 2018, at his home, after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Joe was born on Feb. 26, 1960, in Wakefield, Michigan, to Rudolph J. and Rosalie (July) Massi. He was a graduate of Wakefield High School. He was a former employee of Steiger's Lumber Mill, Westgate Nursing Home, Gogebic Medical Center and Superior Cultured Marble.

On June 25, 2011, he married his wife, Cheryl. Joe's family was very important to him. He loved time with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who enjoyed his independence. He was also the type of man who was always available to help his family and friends. He never judged, never cared what time it was; and if you needed his help, he was there for you. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and just about anything outdoors.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Cheryl, of Ironwood; children, son, Rudy Patrick (special friend, Brittany) Massi and their children, Seth Dull and Autumn Massi, son, Joe David (special friend Tiffany) Massi and their child, Landen Kolehmainen, daughter, Jochel (Jacob) Rady and their children, Aiden, Devon, Genesis and Allyson Rady, son, Cory (special friend, Laurel) Alexandroni, daughter, Courtney (fiancé, Jason Erickson) Alexandroni and their children, Colton and Willow Erickson, and daughter, Tiffany (special friend, Devon Moselle) and their daughter, Elva Moselle; siblings, Debbie (Ray) Brown, Brian (Jane) Massi and Cindy Massi; grandmother, Eva Massi; Cheryl's parents, Victor and Visi Sevilla; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Craig Massi.

There will be a celebration of life for Joe on May 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Bessemer VFW Post 3673 at 605 W. Lead St. in Bessemer.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

The family would like to say thank you to so many of Joe's friends and co-workers for helping Joe during his illness and the family after he passed.
