IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — This Saturday many highly conditioned athletes have signed on to rapidly ascend Copper Peak in their running shoes. Copper Peak, widely known as the ski flying hill located just off Lake Superior, is hosting its first event since 1994 and there will not be a skier in sight.
Billed as the world’s steepest 400 meter race, athletes will start at the bottom of the ski jump and race each other up hill 40 stories to the top of the jump. Organizers of the RedBull 400 call it a race of speed, endurance, and determination.
