Ironwood bands perform spring concert

IRONWOOD - Proud parents got a chance to see their children's musical talent Sunday afternoon, as the Historic Ironwood Theatre played host to the Ironwood Area Schools' spring concert.

District band director Samantha Grace led the school's sixth grade, middle school and high school bands through performances of several songs each.

"I've very happy (with the concert)," Grace said. "The kids practiced very, very hard and it showed tonight."

Grace said the students had been working hard the past few months to get ready for Sunday's performance.

"They've been practicing since February or March," she said.

The performance featured a variety of music, offering listeners a range from "Variations on 'Russian Sailors Dance,'" the Pink Panther theme and "Final Countdown" to songs from "Blues Brothers," "Star Wars" and the Disney movie "Moana."

"I think there were a lot of fun tunes the audience could relate to," Grace said.

The concert was the second of two performances the three bands put on each year, along with an annual winter concert.
