David Raymond Carlson

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. - David Raymond Carlson, 78, of Maplewood, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of the late August and Ethel (Lindstrom) Carlson.

David graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood with the class of 1957.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He later attended Michigan Tech in Houghton where he received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. David worked as a computer programmer at the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis until his retirement. He was an avid reader and a gentle, private soul.

David is survived by his cousins, Betty Cornolo, of Hurley, Wis., Bernice (Joe) Jezek, of Marquette, Mich., and cousin and helper for the past several months, Mary Cornolo, of Richfield.

Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 27 and VFW Post 3673 Honor Guard at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25, at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Mich.
