Richard M. 'Rick' DeCarlo

DULUTH, Minn. - Richard M. "Rick" DeCarlo, 52, of Ashland, Wis., passed away on May 24, 2018, in Duluth, with his family at his side.

Rick was born on Jan. 24, 1966, in Ironwood, Mich. His parents are Tom and Carol (Heinske) DeCarlo. He received his diploma from the Ironwood School District and later attended Gogebic Community College, where he received an Associate Degree. He also attended Central Michigan University, studying education. After that he attended Western Michigan University. He was employed at the Walmart in Ashland as a night maintenance manager for many years.

Rick loved his family, especially his children. He had an awesome sense of humor and could always make you smile. He was a man of deep faith and enjoyed attending church. He also liked to travel to Ironwood to visit family and friends and was an amateur author and poet who had several poems published.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Thomas and Hailey, of Ashland; his parents, Tom and Carol, of Ironwood; two sisters, Candee Wiemeri, of Ironwood, and her children, Jacquelyn, Katee and Jakob; Gina DeCarlo, and her daughter, Janel (fiancé L.J.), his paternal grandfather, Tom (Marilyn) DeCarlo, of Ironwood, as well as many aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Laurel and Carolyn Heinske, and his paternal grandmother, Louise DeCarlo.

There will be a celebration of Rick's life on June 9, from 3 to 4 p.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St. in Ironwood. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
