Frances I. Nelson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Frances I. Nelson, 74, of Ironwood, passed away on May 31, 2018.

She was born on March 3, 1944, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Robert and Bertha (Maki) Talaska. She was a 1962 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood.

On June 10, 1972, she married Kenneth R. Nelson, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2017. She worked as a librarian assistant at Luther L. Wright High School and the Gogebic Community College library. She also worked in her father's grocery store, Talaska's Market, and Kmart from 1981 to 2002. She enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, search-a-word puzzles, gardening and fishing.

She will be sadly missed by brothers John (Joanne) and James (Theresa) Talaska; sisters-in-law, Sally Nelson and Dang Talaska; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth.

There will be a visitation for Fran on Saturday, June 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Aurora St., in Ironwood. There will be a memorial service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Dr. Rev. Jack Fashbaugh officiating.
