MacPherson wins IPSD contest

IRONWOOD - Chelsea MacPherson, from Bessemer, is the winner of the Ironwood Public Safety new patch contest.

"The renderings we received were posted for viewing by members of the community and Ironwood Public Safety and voted on. The entries we received were outstanding," said IPSD Director Gregory Klecker.

MacPherson, a local freelance graphic designer who recently moved to the Gogebic Range from California, was pleased to discover hers was the most popular design.

"MacPherson wins a gift certificate to a local restaurant, letter of appreciation, a T-shirt bearing the new design and, of course, our undying gratitude," Klecker said. "The new patch design is going immediately into production and will be displayed on the Public Safety uniform," he added.

Klecker thanked all of the artists who participated in the effort, saying the department received around nine entries.

He presented MacPherson with the certificate of appreciation and gift certificate to Angelo's Pizza as part of her prize Tuesday at the restaurant.

Having only been in the area since last fall, MacPherson joked exploring the natural beauty of her new home made surviving her first Northwoods winter "totally worth it."
