4th of July 50-50 raffles abound across region

Seven-year-old Maximus Ploetz, visiting from Texas, draws the winning ticket in the Hurley Fourth of July Fireworks Committee's 50-50 raffle at the Bonshell Cafe Thursday morning. The Bank Club won the $4,808 prize with ticket No. 2703.

More than $150,000 was wagered on 50-50 raffles over the Fourth of July holiday regionally.

Michael Tregembo of Ironwood won the Bessemer 50-50 and claimed his prize Thursday. His ticket 66187 won $34,681.

Wakefield's 50-50 prize is an even $24,200 and as yet unclaimed. The winning ticket is 41346.

Hurley's Fireworks Committee held its drawing Thursday morning, drawing ticket 2703. The Bank Club won the prize of $4,808.

Bessemer Township's 50-50 prize of $7,750 was claimed by Lori Stella, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., a former area resident. The winning ticket was 13686. According to 50-...
