Bessemer Township board of trustees to proceed with proposed sewer project

RAMSEY — The Bessemer Township Board of Trustees agreed to proceed with the application process for the proposed sewer improvement project in New Location during Monday’s board meeting.

Supervisor Jeffery Randall presented a comparison of the previous Eureka Platt project to estimate how much the New Location would cost. Eureka Platt cost the township $295,000, and Randall said the New Location project should be about the same.

In other action:

—The board awarded the new park renovation contract to Angelo Luppino Inc. A pre-construction meeting is scheduled for today at 10 a.m.

—A thank you will be sent to the Fourth of July committee and volunteers who made the celebration a success.

—The board announced bids for the demolition of two buildings on main street must be received by Aug. 20.

—The board drafted a resolution opposing HB 6049/SB 1025, which will require township accessors to become a Level 3 accessor.

—The board agreed to hire Tom Ruppe to research and update their website. Ruppe will also create and update a Bessemer Township Facebook page and integrate it with the updated website.
