John W. Kadrlik

MERCER, Wis. - John W. Kadrlik, 77, of Mercer, was called to his heavenly home on Aug. 4, 2018, surrounded by his wife and children.

John was born in Marshfield on Aug. 11, 1940, to John and Lillian (Stejskal) Kadrlik. He attended schools in Butternut and Mercer.

On Oct. 8, 1960, he married Kathleen Brunner at St. Isaac Jogues and Companions Catholic Church in Mercer. She survives.

Throughout his life he worked various jobs including logging with his faithful horse, Duke; truck driving and heavy equipment operator. During his logging days he logged the cedar trees for the home he built for his family.

He was a long-time member of St. Isaac Jogues and Companions Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7228. He also attended tool making classes at Gogebic Community College. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His hobbies included woodworking, working on anything mechanical, making firewood and doing word search puzzles.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen; his five children, Mary (Butch) Vaughn and Judi (John) Houle, both of Mercer, John (Lynn) Kadrlik, Baldwin, Debbie (Dave Hobbs) Kadrlik, Fifield and Sandra (Tom) Nolan, Marion; nine grandchildren, Samantha (Adam) Kussard, Anthony Pemble, Hope (Ryan) Yates, Kayla Houle, Britta (Jason) Manges, Taylor Kadrlik, and Mindy, Katie and James Nolan; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Kussard, Neil Pemble and Levi Manges.

He is further survived by brothers, Jim (Barb), Ted (Millie) and Bob (Judy); sisters, Ellen (Harry) McKittrick and Louise (Richard) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother- and father-in-law, Hazel and Frank Brunner Jr .; his brothers, Richard and Joseph; and sister, Elizabeth Hollon.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Ron Serrao at 11 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues and Companions Catholic Church in Mercer.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Mercer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ministry Home Care-Arbor Vitae (Ascension).

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude and thanks to John's physicians and his home health and hospice care team.
