HURLEY - The Hurley Lioness free backpack program was held Tuesday afternoon at the Hurley school. Fifty excited Hurley elementary students received new backpacks loaded with school supplies they will need during the school year.
The program is sponsored by the Hurley Lioness Club, which has been in existence for 27 years. For the past 12 years its members have been handing out free backpacks to students from Northwoods Christian Academy, All Saints Academy, and the Ironwood and Hurley schools.
