big waves filled with debris crashed along the Black River Harbor breakwall Wednesday afternoon as strong northeast winds riled up Lake Superior. The lake was tossing a lot of driftwood onto the breakwall and the harbor's beach. Twelve to 16 foot waves were forecast in the lake's third big storm of the young fall.
