Bernard J. McKevitt

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Bernard J. McKevitt, 84, a lifelong Ironwood resident, died unexpectedly on Oct. 2, 2018, at his home.

Bernie was born on July 15, 1934, in Ironwood to Bernard and Francis (Banovetz) McKevitt. He was employed with Bessemer Auto, Schult Mobile Homes and with Ski Patrol at Indianhead. Bernie was an avid sports fan. He especially loved NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He and his sister, Pat, had quite the sibling rivalry, as she was a Vikings fan. He enjoyed auto shows and was a big car buff. He loved skiing and the outdoors and had fond memories of his time working with the Ski Patrol in Aspen, Colorado.

He is survived by one sister, Katherine O'Keefe, of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Patricia McKevitt.

Visitation for Bernie will be on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Jacobus officiating.

McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Ironwood, is assisting the family.
