Yvonne D. Johnson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Yvonne D. Johnson, 90, of Ironwood, a former resident of Bartow, Fla., for more than 30 years and a Waukegan, Ill., resident for more than 20 years, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 21, 2018.

Yvonne was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Fabac) Voss. Her earlier years were spent in both Chicago and Calumet.

Yvonne was active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Florida, an avid reader, a prolific letter writer, a creative artist, a talented photographer and participated in numerous arts and crafts. She sang with Big Band combos in Chicago and Calumet during the World War II era.

During their retirement years in Bartow, both she and her husband, Arnold, enjoyed feeding the wildlife and migratory birds. All animals were special to them.

Yvonne is survived by four children, Michael Zoul, Ironwood; John Zoul, Fairfax, Va .; Julie (John) Coy, Gearhart, Ore., and Brett Johnson, Waukegan; 10 dear grandchildren, Philip, Andrea, Ryan, Laura, Chelle, Angela, Elaina, Melissa, Alex and Ashley; and 16 cherished great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her two husbands, Philip Zoul, of 10 years, and Arnold Johnson, of 54 years; three cats, Muffy, Mikey and Stripy; and two dogs, Lassie and Tippy.

Expressions of affection in a charitable contribution in Yvonne's memory are suggested in lieu of flowers and cards to any animal shelter of your choice.

The family is honoring her life privately.
