Joseph 'Bart' 'Mouse' Pertile

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Joseph "Bart" "Mouse" Pertile, 77, of Ironwood, passed away at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital surrounded by family.

Joseph was born on Nov. 14, 1940, to Bruno and Elsie (Erickson) Pertile.

Joseph Pertile lived in Ironwood for his entire life. He graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic School in 1958. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 and spent the next two years with the Army. In 1962, Joseph started working at the White Pine mine, where he spent the next 31 years.

In 1964, Joseph was joined in holy matrimony to Norma Bourbeau. Their union was blessed by the birth of six children and lasted for 46 years.

Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, the Ironwood VFW and Piave Society. Joseph volunteered with the Gogebic-Ontongon Community Action Agency for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, playing cribbage and smear, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by five children, Linda Shwery, James (Kristine) Pertile, Steve (Lisa) Pertile, Sue (Bob) Westeen and Cheryl (Damon) Morrison; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dennis (Darlene) Pertile and Ricky (Sandy) Pertile.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Patricia Rae; a brother, Raymond Pertile; a sister, Betty Ann Ramme; and a son-in-law, Paul Shwery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. There will be a visitation at the church at 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Burial for Joseph will held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
