Bessemer — Two people were arrested in east central Wisconsin Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery home invasion in Marenisco Township in December.

A man, 47, and woman, 41, were arrested in New London Wednesday evening, according to Gogebic County Sheriff Pete Matonich.

The owner of the East Shore road residence in the Lake Gogebic area was assaulted and tied up during the early morning hours of Dec. 18 in the home invasion where money and guns were stolen.

The property owner was able to free himself and alert police, leading to an unsuccessul search of the area and the execution of a search warrant in the city of Ironwood.

Matonich said in December the suspects had been believed to have fled the state and the investigation was continuing.

He said Thursday the investigation into the Dec. 18 home invasion led deputies to the suspects in New London, where the department worked with Wisconsin authorities in tracking and surveilling the suspects.

Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs issued arrest warrants for the two.

GCSD deputies traveled to Waupaca County Wednesday to assist in making the two arrests, according to Matonich.

The two are incarcerated in the Waupaca County Jail, pending extradition to Michigan.

Matonich said the investigation is continuing.
