Ann C. Nelmark

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Ann C. Nelmark, 84, of Ironwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Ann was born on Oct. 30, 1934, in Hurley, Wis., a daughter of Harvey E. “Anton” and Clara L. (Ness) Ramme. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1953. She then attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee.

On Dec. 15, 1956, Ann married Donald J. Nelmark of Ironwood at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hurley. They made their home in the Milwaukee and Kenosha, Wis., areas for several years and later moved to the Ironwood area where they raised their three children.

While living in Milwaukee, Ann worked at Square D and Briggs and Stratton. Later, she worked for the Kodiak Corporation in Ironwood and Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

Ann loved children. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, painting and drawing, birds and nature, music and reading, crossword puzzles, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” Ann sold her own art work privately and at local craft fairs.

Since Ann was a young child, she was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. One of her favorite Bible verses was John 3:16.

Ann is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Erickson, Ironwood; two sons, Blake (Joyce) Nelmark, Gile, Wis., and Daniel Nelmark, Ironwood; five grandchildren, Paul (Brenna) Erickson, Timothy (Laura) Erickson, Sabrina Nelmark, Audrey Nelmark (Gavin Grady) and Tara (Justin) Evans; six cherished great-grandsons, Andrew, Evan, Luke, Noah, Ty and Isaac; two sisters-in-law, Jean Malmberg and Dolores Ramme; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald, on Jan. 31, 2004; and her 11 siblings, Arthur, Rhoda, John, Harvey, William, June, Herbert, Carl, Clarence, and Dorothy and Donald, both in infancy.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating.

A luncheon will be served following the service.

A committal service and interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, in the spring.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield.
