'Taste of Gogebic Range' celebrates 10 years

IRONWOOD — The Gogebic Community College Foundation will host the 10th annual Taste of the Gogebic Range on Monday, April 15, in the David G. Lindquist Student Center.

This event features samplings and offerings of food and beverages from area restaurants, businesses and caterers. Samples include soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, beverages and desserts.

“This is our 10th year of sponsoring the Taste and we are so appreciative of the restaurants and caterers that participate in this fundraiser for our students,” said Kelly Marczak, Gogebic Community College Foundation Director. “It provides our community members an opportunity to socialize with friends while supporting an event that promotes our local businesses and benefits the students at Gogebic Community College.”

A social hour will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m., with the Taste available from 6 ot 8 p.m. Coffee and punch will be available free of charge, beer and wine will be available for purchase to complement the food offerings.

There will be contests going on during the event. The Tasters’ Choice Award will be voted on by the attendees, and the Best of Show Award will be decided by special judges. Booths will be judged on overall display, presentation of food samples, and taste.

There will also be awards for the following categories: Best Appetizer, Best Salad, Best Beverage, Best Entrée and Best Dessert.

“Special awards and bragging rights are awarded to the winners,” said Marczak.

Tickets are limited and are by advance purchase only. Contact the GCC Foundation Office at 906-307-1202 to reserve tickets.

All proceeds from the event will be used to benefit the GCC Foundation. The foundation was established in 1977 as a non-profit corporation and exists for the support and development of the college and its mission.
