Brewster's wins top awards at GCC Foundation's Taste of Gogebic Range

IRONWOOD - The Gogebic Community College Foundation threw a party Monday to benefit the college. The 10th annual Taste of the Gogebic Range drew a crowd Monday evening filling the David G. Lindquist Student Center lounge.

A ticket for the event gave the attendee a set of coupons good for samplings of food and beverages at tables set up around the room, offering fare from area restaurants and caterers.

"It's a fun event and we're excited for another good turnout," said foundation director Kelly Marczak. "We're happy to get the community on campus to show them what they're supporting."

Brewster's was named Best of Show by a panel of judges, while Don & GG's took home the second place prize Outstanding of Show.

The attendees also voted and the Tasters' Choice Award went to Brewster's as well. Second place was given to Smokey's.

Other awards included: Best Appetizer, Brewster's; Best Salad, Elk & Hound; Best Entree, Smokey's; Best Dessert, Ratkowski Catering; and Best Beverage, Cold Iron Brewing.

Marczak said the foundation supports the college in various ways, including scholarships, staff development and capital improvements.

She thanked the businesses who supported the evening with their culinary offerings, as well as the many volunteers, including student members of the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society.
