Hurley - The 2019 Silver Express performed in front of a nearly sold out crowd at its last concert at the school on Friday evening.

Silver Express co-director Roy Haeger said the band is going on tour, "But will play a few songs" during graduation.

"This is the last hurrah for the seniors," he said.

Silver Express member Cody Sobrack sings, plays the saxophone, piano, harmonica and cowbell and said being in the band has been a lot of fun.

"It's a bunch of talented kids and (they) use their talent to form one big band and play songs people are familiar with," he said.

As a senior, Sobrack will be leaving the group this year after scheduled concerts in Glidden, South Shore, Arbor Vitae Wisconsin, Three Lakes and Wausau.

He said playing in the band requires 6 to 8 hours of practicing a week as a group.

"We also have to practice on our own," he added.

Kellie Hitter, concert attendee, said this is the second time hearing the group in the last week.

She said it was such a good show and will be sad to see the group go because they are "very talented and well put together."

Hitter said having a band like the Silver Express gives students a chance to be who they want to be.

"Not everybody does sports," she said. "It's just another option for students to show their talent."
