GCC board hires baseball coach, adjusts titles

IRONWOOD — The Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday to hire a new baseball coach and change a couple position titles.

According to a press release issued by the college, Steven Barnes was approved by the board as the new baseball coach starting immediately. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science in physical education and has coached a variety of sports over multiple years.

The board also approved the title changes to the current dean positions to keep current with other colleges. The dean of students will now be referred to as vice president of student services and the dean of business will be vice president of business services.
