Wallace Z. Golembeski

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Wallace Z. Golembeski, 83, of Wakefield, formerly a long-time resident of Bessemer, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, with his loving family by his side, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Wally was born on Aug. 6, 1935, in Wakefield, a son of Charles and Victoria (Langa) Golembeski. He attended Wakefield schools.

On Aug. 24, 1956, Wally married his sweetheart, Beverly E. Makela. They enjoyed more than 62 wonderful years of marriage.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

Wally took pleasure in the simple things in life, especially listening to, playing his guitar and singing country music; going for morning coffee and the frequent gatherings of picnics and cookouts with family and friends in the backyard around a bonfire and at Sunday Lake.

Wally will be dearly missed by his five daughters, Terri (Mark) Kukowski, Connie (Daniel) Cvengros, Barbi (Nathan) Stone, Wendy Golembeski and Melanie Golembeski; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Daniel) Umoru, Alyana and Jayden Kukowski, Nathan and Hannah Stone, Andy and Mason Cvengros and Nicholas Hoffner; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Pelkowski and Olivia Umoru; a sister, Helen Wells; his sister-in-law, Annette Golombiski; and countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly, on April 9, 2019; a granddaughter, Samantha Elaine Knight; nine brothers, Ben, Joseph, Teddy, Harold, Leo, John, Carl, Richard and Bernard; and two sisters, Genevieve Russ and Tillie Brickner.

A Rite of Committal and interment for Wally and Beverly will take place Monday, June 3, at 1:30 p.m., at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer. The Rev. Dominic Agyapong will officiate.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the amazing love and care given to Wally by the entire staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility.
