Louise J. Luoma

HURLEY, Wis. - Louise J. Luoma, 86, of Saxon, passed away on June 6, 2019, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Louise was born April 2, 1933, in Ironwood, Mich. to Louis and Mildred (Lantta) Mazner.

Louise was a member of the Saxon American Legion Auxiliary and Saxon-Gurney Presbyterian Church and always helped whenever help was needed in the community.

On June 11, 1949, she married the love of her life, Wilbert Luoma. They spent the next 68 years together always saying the key to a long happy marriage is to always dance, something that Louise always loved.

Louise lived her life working side by side with her husband on their farm in Saxon for over 50 plus years. She enjoyed gardening, camping, cooking, watching her hummingbirds and listening to the high school sports on the radio, as many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren played them.

Her most rewarding job was raising her 7 children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them many life lessons such as always work hard, do your best in school, take time for your family and never hang clothes outside on the clotheslines on Sunday since that was the Lord's day; and you are supposed to rest.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Trudy and Joe Pinardi of Hurley, Gloria and James Rowe of Gurney, Diane and Dale Ofstad of Gurney, Mike and Laura Luoma of Saxon, JoAnna and Jeff Krone of Hurley, Janette and Lee Vuorenmaa of Hurley, and Jeri Lynn of Saxon; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild on the way; her dog, Diesal or Kiddo as she called him; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbert; sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Charles Raivio; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Darlene Kokley.

At Louise's request, private services will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of the Villa Maria for the wonderful care given to Louise.
