JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Timothy Jay Mahoney, 75, passed away peacefully March 15, 2019, surrounded by his family, due to complications secondary to his long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Jamestown, to the late Eugene and Sybyl (VanMarter) Mahoney.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962 and went on to continue his education, ultimately obtaining a law degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. Through his travels in Michigan, he fell in love with the Upper Peninsula where he established his law practice and went on to become probate judge for Gogebic County.
He loved being outdoors, boating on Lake Superior, hiking, cross country skiing, gardening, painting and being with his family. In 2003, he moved to Rochester, Minn., to reside with his daughter, Kerry. There he continued many of his passions.
Tim will be remembered for his great zest for life, incredible strength, kindness, generosity and amazing sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Erinn Mahoney of Chicago, Kerry Mahoney (Tracy Smith) and their two children: Keira and Kameron Smith of Rochester, Minn .; as well as three siblings: Shane Mahoney, Terry Mahoney and Elsie Stafford.
Tim will be missed every day, and will never be forgotten as he will forever be in our hearts as a hero.
