Marenisco - Books and bakery were available for sale Saturday at the Marenisco Township Hall as part of a fundraiser for the Friends of the Marenisco Public Library.

Hard-cover books and paperbacks were available for $1 and 50 cents, respectively. Also included was a rummage table and plenty of coffee.

Linda Detloff, librarian, and several ladies assisting her said that most of the bakery had been sold out shortly after noon.

The event was one of several activities offered on behalf of the library, which is located on Fair Avenue, across from Earla's Restaurant.

Susan Havenor, Friends president, said one of the main events scheduled each year is a craft and bake sale on the first Saturday in November.

That sale, which also takes place at the township hall, will be on Nov. 2 this year.

The Friends' Facebook page also notes pasty sales, steak feeds, story times and more.

In addition, Havenor said the library features cookie decorating with kids in relation to holidays such as Valentine's Day or Christmas.

Concert Tonight

For the first time this year, the Friends are offering "Music in the Park" today from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the township's new pavilion on the corner of Fair Avenue, which is Marenisco's main thoroughfare, and Mill Street.

Performing this evening will be folk singer and songwriter Troy Graham of Marquette. He also is promoted as a poet, children's entertainer and workshop leader.

Graham's music includes old-time, bluegrass, folk, indie and gospel, and he has performed at many major Midwest music festivals.

Graham's latest album, released in 2018, is "Times of the Past and Now."

The public is welcome to tonight's event, which will include refreshments.
