Franklin G. DuCharme

IRON BELT, Wis. – Franklin G. DuCharme, 86, a longtime resident of Iron Belt, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Franklin was born on April 11, 1933, in Saxon, a son of Arthur and Anna (Ylitalo) DuCharme. He attended Saxon High School and graduated in 1952.

Franklin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 7, 1955.

On Oct. 6, 1956, Franklin was united in marriage to Carol M. Myllykangas in Iron Belt. They made their home in Iron Belt and were blessed with three children.

Franklin enjoyed taking rides to visit his brothers and his family. He took great pleasure riding around the towns and countryside touring. Franklin was always a hard worker and was there for his family. He was a great joke teller and had a funny joke or story to tell to make you laugh.

Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Carol; two daughters, Jane (Kevin) Rowe and Joy DuCharme; a son, Jeffery (Marla) DuCharme; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Mary Jo) and Robert (Gail); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Arthur, Earl, Barry, Gerald and Paul; and a sister, June Saari.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 8, at 11 a.m., at the Lake View Cemetery, Saxon.

Following the service, full military rites will be accorded.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, Mich.
