Kathryn (Katy) E. Zanetti

NEGAUNEE, Mich. - Kathryn (Katy) E. Zanetti, 90, of Bessemer, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at Eastwood Nursing Home in Negaunee. She had resided at Teal Lake Senior Living in Negaunee for the past two and a half years.

Katy was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Ironwood, to John and Christine (Kaczmerich) Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers (Edgar, Frank, Stanley, and Walter), one sister (Annie), and her husband, Frank D. (Red) Zanetti.

Katy had a passion for cooking and cleaning. She could always be found wearing her apron. On top of making wonderful dinners at home, Katy volunteered a great deal of her time within the church making pasties. She enjoyed participating with other activities within the community. She enjoyed gardening with her husband, growing many vegetables throughout the summer, often using her fresh produce for her cooking. At the age of 90 she was still enjoying baking weekly at Teal Lake Senior Living along with playing games and crafting.

Katy is survived by her two children and their families. Her daughter, Kris (Robert) Sibley of Ishpeming; two grandchildren, Eric (Erica) Sibley and Stacy Sibley; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Sibley, Evan Sibley and Elise Sibley. Her son, Gary (Michele) Zanetti of Commerce Township; two grandchildren, Heather Piasecki and Allison (Mike) Blazaitis; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Blazaitis and Jackson Blazaitis.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. There will be no visitations prior to the mass. Burial will take place directly after mass at Hillcrest Cemetery.
